Screening of enzyme inhibitors from foodstuffs

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) of humans is caused by the infection of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). AIDS is one of major infectious diseases, like malaria and tuberculosis.  Inhibitors of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (HIV-1 RT) have been developed and used for the treatment of AIDS. We have been screening inhibitors of HIV-1 RT from foodstuffs and analyzing their inhibitory effects.
